Sunday Reading

T.R. Reid in todays Washington Post has interesting reading on health care. In " "5 Myths About Health Care Around the World" he dispells some of the widely held (false) notions about medicine in America. And compares us with some other countries including Britain,Germany, Canada, and Myanmar (Burma). Yes, Burma. There is a comparison to by made between us and Burma. Sadly, it's also a similarity. The 5 myths are;
  1. It's all socialized medicine out there.
  2. Overseas, care is rationed through limited choices or long lines.
  3. Foreign health-care systems are inefficient, bloated bureaucracies
  4. Cost controls stifle innovation.
  5. Health insurance has to be cruel.
